As July is coming to a close and August is about to commence, summer is on its last leg and its time to live it up while we still can. August in Seattle is so much fun, as there is some sort of event almost everyday of the month! Below, I have compiled some of the best things in the beautiful Emerald City that you and the whole family will love!

The Activities

August 1st: Welcome ships and sailors at the Seafair Fleet Week
Beginning on July 31st, the annual Seafair Fleet Week at Elliot Bay brings parades of boats and ships, as well as ship tours and fun! This is free admission, and you can walk around the Seattle waterfront!

August 2nd: Free Shakespeare

Love classic literature? Starting the 2nd-12th, the Seattle Shakespeare Company does the Wooden O, where they go to numerous public parks and perform famous Shakespeare plays, free of charge. Grab that old copy of Othello and a picnic basket, and enjoy some live entertainment.

August 3rd – 5th: Magnolia Summer Fest

The Magnolia Summer Festival includes a parade, live music and entertainment, and many food and art booths and vendors. It lasts throughout the whole weekend, and it is free admission; so make sure to bring a hearty appetite!

August 14th: The Children’s Business Fair

Support the kids in the Children’s Business Fair in Bellevue, where you can shop from 50 different children ranging from 6-18 years old. Selling food, toys, and art pieces, these children are learning how to operate businesses, which is a great reason to go. Free admission, so more money to give to a child’s business!

August 17th– 19th: The Seattle Tattoo Exposition

Body art is such a norm in today’s society, as it is used as a sense of expression. The Seattle Tattoo Expo gives seminars, demonstrations, and vendors in Seattle Center. Tickets are $20 per day, or $50 for a full pass.

August 19th: Garage Sale Day in Capitol Hill

In Cal Anderson Park, dozens of neighborhoods gather around and have one giant garage sale. August is all about that summer cleaning, and with free admission, you are able to buy and sell your stuff at leisure!

August 25thFree State Park Day

To all my nature-friendly friends, this one is for you! On August 25th, you are able to pack up a picnic basket and a backpack with some hiking boots, and go to any of the 140 Washington State Parks, free of charge!

August 31st– September 2nd: Bumbershoot

Bumbershoot is the ode to the end of summer, and it is worth the money to check it out. During Labor Day weekend, you are able to see famous artists perform locally, as well as a multitude of food vendors and performances. Located in the Seattle Center, you are able to celebrate summer 2018 with a bang!
